VALUABLE TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN DURING FALL/WINTER

There is a lot to get excited about during the fall or winter, including holidays, cosy sweaters, and hot chocolate. The way our skin reacts to new temperatures changes as the season changes. During summer, the humidity in the air prevents over-drying and protects the skin's outer barrier. But the dry air and the use of heaters in colder months make your skin deprived of moisture, and the barrier gets disrupted, increasing the chances of irritation, sensitivity, and dryness. So, it is crucial to make some changes to your daily skincare routine during fall or winter to keep it healthy. Here are some valuable tips.

  • Avoid Steamy Showers

Long steamy showers always feel a great idea during the cold weather, but the hot water further dries out your skin. So instead, use lukewarm water to shower or cleanse your face, and do not forget to moisturise your skin immediately because hot water can cause cracking and triggers eczema.

  • Use Moisturising Cleansers & Body Washes

The skincare products that balance your skin during summer can dehydrate your skin in winter. That's why you need to change your skincare products. Cleansers and body washes are the products that come first in line. Choose the moisturising ingredients to avoid depriving your skin of its natural moisture— formulas containing figs, aloe, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E are good to consider. Be sure to avoid cleansers with alcohol, synthetic fragrances, SLS, and MCI as they contribute to further dehydration of your skin.

  • Exfoliate Properly

Exfoliation is probably the last thing that comes to your mind in dry and cold weather, but there are many benefits to it. It removes the dry and dead skin cells from the surface and helps regenerate the new ones. Your skin will thank you if you use natural exfoliating scrubs like fine grain salt and lychee seeds mixed in hydrating components like coconut pulp and grapeseed oil. You can also use bath sponge loofahs, shower gloves, and back exfoliating loofahs to prevent the accretion of dead skin cells on the surface. Scrubbing your skin once or twice a week is fine during fall or winter because over-exfoliation can lead to skin dryness.

  • Use Rich Moisturising Creams, Oils, and Lotions

As the weather changes, switching to the rich moisturizing formula is needed to add more moisture to the skin and help it to retain it. Choose a cream, oil, or lotion and apply immediately after washing to lock in as much moisture as possible. Do not forget your hands and feet, as they are the most hardworking parts of your body. Finding a product with natural ingredients like rosehip oil, carrot seed oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, and figs will be great as these ingredients wonderfully hydrate your skin, improves cell turnover, and protect your skin against free radicals.

  • Protect Your Skin

Fall and winter are undoubtedly harsh on your skin. Keep a lip balm in your bag or pocket when you are outside. A scarf and gloves are necessary to protect the delicate skin of your hands and neck. In addition, do not forget to apply sunscreen daily, as it protects you from the damaging effects of UV rays.
